Details: Alexander Technique (AT) is a sustainable embodied mindfulness practice that helps folx feel present, alive and in their bodies. Under the hands-on guidance of a teacher, you learn to identify and release patterns of tension that may be getting in the way of your natural postural alignment. This will help you to address underlying habits of movement and thoughts that may be causing you physical pain, or are otherwise getting in your way. Max is the only teacher to hold the distinction of being both a Patsy Rodenburg Registered Teacher of Voice & Text (RRT) and an AmSAT certified teacher of the Alexander Technique. He received his MFA in acting from A.C.T in San Francisco, and subsequently trained extensively as a voice teacher with Patsy Rodenburg, Nancy Benjamin and Jeffrey Crockett, specializing in Shakespeare. He trained with second generation Alexander teachers Nanette Walsh and Lori Schiff at the Riverside Initiative for the Alexander Technique. He is a founding member of the living wage Seattle-based theater collective, The Williams Project, and has appeared in film, tv and in theaters nationwide. He has directed plays for NYU, The Atlantic Conservatory and the 52nd Street Project. Max has consulted with GoldJam Collective in NYC, and for DiamondMind in Chicago. He has taught voice & text at NYU, The American Conservatory of Dramatic Arts, The New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts, Anthony Meindl’s Actor Workshop (AMAW), Drew University, The American Conservatory Theater’s Young Conservatory, The Only Theatre Summer Institute and more.
