David Earl Maier, 1940-2023


David Earl Maier, age 83, of Rhinebeck, formerly of Evansville, IN, died peacefully at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2023, at Northern Dutchess Hospital in Rhinebeck.

David was born August 7, 1940, in Evansville, IN, to Walter and Elsie Hazel (Creek) Maier. He attended Baker Grade School and was a 1958 graduate of Central High School. He worked as a Salesman for Burch Plow Works, traveling throughout the United States from 1958-1964. David later worked for Amex Aluminum in the old Chrysler Plant from 1964-1970 until he and his family moved to Chicago, IL, and Columbus, OH, for a short time while working for Reynolds Aluminum Company from 1970-1973. He finally settled in Rhinebeck working for Jim Waters as a Field Sales Representative for 18 years before retiring in 1991.

David was an active Partner in Service with the Rhinebeck Lions Club alongside his wife, Joyce, who held several leadership roles with the Lions.

One of his favorite ways to relax while on the road was to make small donations to local casinos. He was an avid softball player and overall sports fan, and he enjoyed watching his favorite teams when he had the chance, but mostly, David loved his family. He was a loving father and grandfather, as well as a wonderful brother and friend. He will be truly missed by his family and friends.
